Valerie Hayes Talks Miss USA with the Washington Post

As America gears up to watch Miss USA this evening, so has the media. I read a great article with Pageant Coach Valerie Hayes that is spot on for what the Miss USA pageant judges are looking for. I hope it also breaks some stereotypes.

““They want to demonstrate today’s modern woman can be confident, smart, savvy, can market herself and move her career forward… At the same time, she is beautiful, feminine and fashionable… They what to know what motivates them. What are they interested in doing, do they have a real direction in life, or ‘I want to be pageant Barbie.’ They aren’t going to pick pageant Barbie.”
